The recent storms dumped several feet of fresh snow on the Sierras. Wednesday was bluebird perfection. Steve Spaulding rarely misses days like these and I joined him on a lap to Bear Valley for some powder.

I had the opportunity to photograph Van Jones for UCSC when he came to speak in Santa Cruz for the annual Martin Luther King Convocation. His message for building a new green economy , and his book Green Collar Economy was inspiring.
The Amgen Tour of California bike race came through Santa Cruz today. I posted myself strategically on the corner of Bay and Empire Grade to capture the action. A lot of waiting for a very brief photo op. I was able to get a nice shot of the stage 2 winner, Thomas Peterson (right behind Levi Leipheimer) and manage to sneak a glimpse of Lance Armstrong as well (2nd from right in the pack).
