Tsunami Comes to Santa Cruz ~ Terry Way Photography

Colton and I went down to the harbor last night to witness the tsunami event caused by the massive earthquake off the coast of Samoa. It was quite fascinating as the water from the harbor would recede out and push back in with an amazing amount of force. We watched this occur several times in the course of an hour. The deep ocean current stirred up the seafloor sediment in the harbor and a strong rotten egg smell developed.

Terry Way is a wonderful photographer, and shares some incredible history on both San Francisco per se and Victorian homes. He defines the different styles, shows photographs from all over the San Francisco area, and includes a great section that focuses on the small details of the homes. This book would appeal to photographers, those interested in Victorian architecture, and those interested in San Francisco and San Francisco History. Snippet of information from the book - one of the major reasons these lovely "Painted Ladies" are holding up so well is that they were made from redwood - which is bug and rot resistant! Visually appealing, highly informative - this is a good book to keep in mind for the upcoming holiday gifting season

Holly Farm Weddings are the best! Terry Way Photography

Allison and Danny asked me to come and photograph their rehearsal party on Friday night out on beautiful Carmel beach- the fog rolled in- and the party was a blast!

The waves were up that day, and Carmel beach was in full action, with beach goers, surf, dog walkers, parties... very festive atmosphere

Allison and Danny's family and friends enjoyed the scene along with the great food, the party was 5-star

Terry Way is one of those guys you can easily see yourself hanging out at a bonfire, sharing beers and telling great surf stories. It's the laid back Santa Cruz in him, I guess. So when we were looking for a photographer, we wanted someone who was unintrusive, friendly, willing to put up with our special brand of comedy, and someone who would work with our list of must-take pictures. We found Terry through a friend who got married and used him, and we kept his card for the day when we would get married.Terry's office is in Santa Cruz, so you'll have to travel to see him, and you'll also have to pay him to come up to the Bay. No worries, it's all worth it because like Sakura Films, I also had my pictures ready within a month of my wedding: cd-roms, and all the photos as well. Well worth the money spent on pictures.You can expect him to blend in with your guests, take great photojournalistic pics, and make your wedding day really a comfortable one. Just give him the list and you're good to go. Easy to work with too! :-) No more bridezilla with him.

We chose Terry Way photography for our Wedding pictures. Terry did a fantastic job! From the time we first met with Terry we loved his portfolio and his ability to capture great candid moments, and some more formal pictures with a sense of "fun". He was very professional, and made us feel comfortable in front of the camera. He did a great job of getting beautiful, post ceremony pictures in a timely manner so guests did not have to wait long. He took some incredible pictures of the entire Wedding day!!, and really captured the "essence" of us, our family, and all of our friends. He also puts a lot of "fun" into his work, and that's what we liked about him the most. I highly recommend Terry Way, his work is amazing!

Terry and I work together a lot. As we are both in the wedding business, it is not uncommon for me to be the officiant at a wedding where Terry is the photographer.I see a lot of things at weddings. I have worked with countless photographers. There are many good photographers that I work with. Terry is among my favorites.He was the photographer at my daughters wedding....which should tell you even more about how much we liked him. Terry is a terrific photographer...and a very nice man. I joke with Terry that he is a ghost. As I work the wedding as an officiant...I look up and I see Terry...then he is somewhere else. Seconds later he is across the lawn...then over my shoulder. He works very hard...and yet it seems as if he is having a terrific time. If you are in the market for a wonderful photographer...who you will also want to go out after the wedding and have dinner and a beer with...Terry is your guy.It's like having a good friend do your photography....who is also much more talented than your Uncle Walter at taking photos

I am a wedding videographer and family documentarian and have had the opportunity and pleasure of working with Terry on numerous occasions.Maybe it's because he is a nice guy or he's figured out that cooperation is a good thing, or maybe he's confident in his ability. I can't say for sure, but for whatever reason, he does not feel the need to stand or even crouch in front of our cameras during a ceremony. Yet he still manages to get spectacular shots. He is courteous, collaborative and fun to work with. He doesn't have the attitude that video is just a silly annoyance and that he's the only one doing the important work. As a result, the client gets wonderful results from both of us. Beautiful photos. Beautiful video. What a concept!. . and you know what? I'll refer him to future clients. Happily.Kudos to Terry Way and his wife Valerie too.

Having Terry Way as our wedding photographer was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding day.We loved his photos on the website and figured that if our wedding pics came out even half as amazing as the ones we saw on the website, we would be in heaven! We never got to meet Terry until the day of the wedding since we were not local to the Northern California area, so we talked with him on the phone. Just talking with him, you get a sense of him being very excited and enthusiastic about what he does, yet at the same time you can sense how chill he really is. Dealing with him and his wife before and after the event was nothing but pleasureable. They are so easy to work with.He showed up on the day of the wedding and he captured so many great moments. He was really easy-going and managed to get so many awesome pics of almost everyone who came to the wedding. We really loved that he managed to involve all of our guests throughout the entire event. Even a few of my guests came up to me that day and the day after to tell me how amazing they thought Terry was.... he gets into every situation and gets the picture taken then gets back and lets things happen. Terry managed to fit himself into every moment during the day without making it very well known that he was actually there. If you want the type of photographer to get everyone to pose exactly a certain way and you want to spend all day taking photos, Terry is not your guy-- Terry watches the day and gets all the great moments saved in his unique and almost magical way. One thing we really loved was that we don't feel posed in our photos-- they really are a representation of us!
